Domaine La Barroche, Châteauneuf-du-pape, 2007

Domain La Barroche 2007

Now, people in Sweden, listen. This is a bargain. It is one of the absolutely best Châteauneuf-du-pape I have had. From 2007 that is I think the best year since 2000 and 1998 (and maybe better than those), and on top of that from Domaine La Barroche that is […]

La Fagotière, Châteauneuf-du-pape, 2009, white

La Fagotière 2009

La Fagotière is as all wineries from Châteauneuf-du-pape most well known for their reds, but they also do white. This is a very complex, thick but still crisp. Grass, pear, not any fat oils, no minerals. This white is a typical white Châteauneuf-du-pape, maybe a little bit too young still, […]

Domaine La Barroche, Fiancée, Châteauneuf-du-Pape, 2004

Domaine La Barroche, Fiancée, 2004

This is a masterpiece. 2004 was not the best year, but the wine definitely is. With 50% grenache and 50% syrah in the blend for the Fiancée. Domain La Barroche and the wine maker Julien Barrot that I had the privilege to meet when I visited Barroche last […]

Domaine Roger Perrin, Châteauneuf-du-Pape, red, 2008

Domaine Roger Perrin, Châteauneuf-du-Pape, 2008

Good smell, but surprisingly thin body. I do not like when the smell is promising more than what the taste gives. The other way around is more fun. This just disappoints you. Not one of the good years. Drink now. (=)

Roger Perrin, Châteauneuf-du-Pape, white 2009

Complex, honey in smell, then spinach and banana (natural bananas, not the candy one). No picture unfortunately. If you are looking for a classic white Châteauneuf-du-Pape, get this! No picture unfortunately. 2009 might feel like a young year, but the white Châteauneuf should be had young (I do not mind being proven otherwise one day…). […]

Domaine La Fagotière, Châteauneuf-du-Pape, 2004, red

La Fagotière, Châteaunef-du-Pape, Red 2006 (old label)

This wine from the not so perfect year 2004 is good. Not excellent, but good wine. Some fresh grass, but long sharp body that leaves memories. Interestingly enough it had more young tannins left than I expected. They do claim their goal is to create this […]

Domaine La Fagotière, Châteauneuf-du-Pape, 2007, red

La Fagotière, Châteauneuf-du-Pape, 2006 (new label)

Rich of tannins, but this is a very complex Châteauneuf-du-Pape. Excellent wine, but need at least two more years for the tannins to get rounder (even for my taste) before really knowing how this will end up. Berries, heavy, long after taste, but, dominated by tannins still. […]

Domaine La Fagotière, Châteauneuf-du-Pape, 2007, white

Domain La Fagotiere, White, 2007

Very complex as all white Châteauneuf-du-Pape. Big body, lots of apricot and of course citrus. Drink now. (++)

Domaine La Barroche, Châteauneuf-de-pape 2008, red

Domain La Barroche, 2008

Excellent red wine. Thanks to Winepunk Erik that suggested this winery. Long taste, young (no surprise as it is a 2008). Cherries — very fruity indeed. It has though loads of syrah, an interesting comparison to 2006 that I also tasted. I prefer the 2006 version as I think […]

Domaine La Barroche, Châteauneuf-du-pape 2006, red

Domain La Barroche, 2006

This is a very impressive wine. Loads of typical Grenache and mourvédre based chateauneuf. Berries, lots of tannins. Long aftertaste. As it should be, although one could have asked a bit more syrah-feeling (even if I do not want too much in a grenach based wine). (++)

This […]
