Bollinger R.D. 1988, Champagne

Bollinger R.D. 1988

I had the opportunity to not only get a taste of a Bollinger R.D. 1988, but also with an excellent goose liver. The match was absolutely perfect, but lets concentrate on the champagne. This Bollinger has aged very well. Stored in a nice way. The special taste that one normally get […]

Carmen Reserva, Merlot, 2005

Carmen Reserva, Merlot, 2006

The Chile wines are in general too much berries, lemonade and sweetness for me. This from Carmen is one of the better such wines though, with a nice taste, with some body and the normal aftertaste given by lots of sun as traditionally from wines from Chile. (=)

The […]

Villa Antinori, 2006

Villa Antinori, 2006

Villa Antinori is a red wine from Tuscany, 55% Sangiovese, 25% Cabernet Sauvignon, 15% Merlot and 5% Syrah. The Sangiovese is smooth and traditional, with some berries, but not only red. This is a good wine to have for dinner, and the price performance is good – to some degree because […]

Château Rouselle, 2006

Château Rouselle, 2006

The Château Rouselle was yet another wine that was exactly as expected. A typical Merlot dominated Bordeaux with 75% merlot, 20% cabernet sauvignon, 3% malbec and 2% cabernet franc. The nicest part of this wine is that there is still enough cab to remove most of the berries that otherwise can, […]

Domaine La Barroche, Fiancée, Châteauneuf-du-Pape, 2004

Domaine La Barroche, Fiancée, 2004

This is a masterpiece. 2004 was not the best year, but the wine definitely is. With 50% grenache and 50% syrah in the blend for the Fiancée. Domain La Barroche and the wine maker Julien Barrot that I had the privilege to meet when I visited Barroche last week. […]

Domaine Roger Perrin, Cuvée ?, 2006

Domaine Roger Perrin, Cuvée '?', 2008

This is an interesting wine as it is from Roger Perrin, on the border between Orange and Châteauneuf-du-Pape, but is made from the classic Bordeaux mix Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. Because this mix is not allowed in the apellation, it is not sold as a Châteauneuf-du-Pape.

This still […]

Domaine Roger Perrin, Châteauneuf-du-Pape, red, 2008

Domaine Roger Perrin, Châteauneuf-du-Pape, 2008

Good smell, but surprisingly thin body. I do not like when the smell is promising more than what the taste gives. The other way around is more fun. This just disappoints you. Not one of the good years. Drink now. (=)

Roger Perrin, Châteauneuf-du-Pape, white 2009

Complex, honey in smell, then spinach and banana (natural bananas, not the candy one). No picture unfortunately. If you are looking for a classic white Châteauneuf-du-Pape, get this! No picture unfortunately. 2009 might feel like a young year, but the white Châteauneuf should be had young (I do not mind being proven otherwise one day…). […]

Chateau Colbert Cannet, Côtes de Provence

Chateau Colbert Cannet, Côtes De Provence, White

Light, relatively simple, cheap wine. Citrus and kiwi. Short taste. Ok as table wine, works with warm fish based food. Did not work very well with cold shellfish. (=)

Domaine La Fagotière, Châteauneuf-du-Pape, 2004, red

La Fagotière, Châteaunef-du-Pape, Red 2006 (old label)

This wine from the not so perfect year 2004 is good. Not excellent, but good wine. Some fresh grass, but long sharp body that leaves memories. Interestingly enough it had more young tannins left than I expected. They do claim their goal is to create this older […]
