Domaine La Barroche, Châteauneuf-du-pape, 2007

Domain La Barroche 2007

Now, people in Sweden, listen. This is a bargain. It is one of the absolutely best Châteauneuf-du-pape I have had. From 2007 that is I think the best year since 2000 and 1998 (and maybe better than those), and on top of that from Domaine La Barroche that is a rising star on the heaven of red wine. I claim Barroche is as good, if not better, than Beaucastel. If you look at the price, and availability, Barroche is definitely the best you can find today. If you like powerful, grenache dominated, red wine. Wine that stands on itself. That can dominate any dinner. While at the same time balances very well with most things.

In Sweden you can find this wine on Beställningssortimentet as article 72669, 349SEK. I just bought a case, tried this, and yes…I will have 11 more extremely nice experiences with this newly found friend. Drinkable now, but it will be interesting to see how this evolves the next 10-20 years. (++(+))
